The Learning Lens

The Learning lens is an optional topic for a restorative dialogue where the main purpose is to rebuild trust.

It is not uncommon for ideas about how things could be improved or done differently to come up during a dialogue. This can be productive, but it can also be disruptive as focus can shift from listening to understand to fixing a problem. If ideas for improvement come up it is best to note them and return to them later in the dialogue process.

Contribution can be helpful when looking at a situation with respect to learning. Knowing what contributed to a situation provides an opportunity to look at each contribution and explore how it might be handled better, or done differently, in the future.

See the page on continuous learning for more on how we learn using the Learning Spiral and reflection.
